Proverbs 25:1-28

Chapter 25
1 These are also the proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah, copied over. 2 The glory of God is the hiding of a word, and the glory of kings is the searching of a word. 3 Heavens for height and earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable. 4 Remove dross from silver, and it comes out for the refining of a vessel. 5 Remove the wicked from before the king, and his throne is established in righteousness. 6 Do not adorn yourself in splendor before the king, and do not stand in the place of great ones. 7 For it is better that you say, "Go up here," rather than your being humbled before a noble whom your eyes have seen. 8 Do not go out hastily to a chief officer, lest what will you do at its end, in the latter days, with your companion? 9 Argue your case with your neighbor, but do not reveal another's secret. 10 lest he disgrace you when he hears it, and your word does not return. 11 A golden apple in silver engravings—a word fit for its circumstances. 12 A gold earring and a pure gold ornament—the rebuke of a wise one on a listening ear. 13 Like the coolness of snow on a harvest day, so is a faithful emissary to his senders, and he restores the nephesh of his lords. 14 Princes with no spirit and rain—a man boasting in a gift of falsehood. 15 With the length of nostrils a ruler is enticed, and a soft tongue breaks a bone. 16 You have found honey; eat just enough of it, lest you satiate yourself with it and vomit it. 17 Make your foot scarce in your neighbor's house, lest he become sated with you and hate you. 18 A slanderer is like a sword and a sharpened arrow—a man who answers his companion as a false witness. 19 A bad tooth and a slipping foot—trusting in a betrayer on a day of distress. 20 A garment for an assembly on a cold day, vinegar on natron, and singing songs over an evil heart. 21 If your hater is hungry, feed him bread; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. 22 You will heap coals on his head, and the LORD will repay you. 23 The north wind brings rain, and an angry face brings a secret tongue. 24 It is better to dwell on a corner of the roof than with a woman of strifes and a house of a companion. 25 Cold waters to a weary soul, and good news from a distant land. 26 A trampled spring and a muddied source—a righteous man who stumbles before a wicked man. 27 Eating too much honey is not good, and searching out their glory is not. 28 A breached city without a wall—a man whose spirit has no restraint.
